Q: can you put bigger tires on a 4 cylinder 2007 toyota tacoma cuz i want the 4 for the gas mileage ,not the 6?
and not HUGE tires .just a happy medium tire like a suv tire or alittle bigger

A: I've sold new cars for over 35 years. I've heard your question many times before from many customers. My answer has always been the same ... you are defeating the purpose of a 4 cylinder by putting bigger tires on your truck. Larger tires weigh more, have more mass to turn and are a strain on your 4 cylinder engine. You don't have enough torque to adequately move the truck with larger tires from a dead stop. So the engine whines and winds out a lot more, killing your MPG. A 4 cylinder truck with big tires will get LESS gas mileage than a 6 cylinder with factory tires. So it comes down to only 2 choices ... big tires or better gas mileage. If you have to have the oversized tires then MPG should not be of concern to your when you buy.

Q: Has anyone used an infant car seat in a 2007 Toyota Tacoma Access cab truck?
My husband has a 2007 Toyota Tacoma access cab. We have a newborn baby and plan on putting his rear-facing car seat in the back seat. The owner's manual gives instructions on installing an infant car seat into the truck. Is the Toyota Tacoma child restraint system safe? I figured it had to be safe if they provide this as a safety feature on the truck. I just want to make sure that the truck meets the same safety requirements as my 4-door car. The car seat is mainly put in my car, but we need to use my husband's truck this week. Please let me know if you have used a car seat in this truck. The infant car seat we are using is the Graco Safe Seat.

A: The restraint system is just as safe as any other, the problem is that pickup trucks are never the ideal way to transport children. Trucks have less crumple zone area. And even though we're always told kids should be in the back, in pickup trucks that actually isn't always true - b/c the back windshield is SOOOO close to the back seat, when the car seat rebounds up its undoubtedly going to hit it, providing another point of impact that the baby will hit and be injured by. Notice that when you install your carrier in your car, even if its a good installation (with less than 1" of movement at the belt path) that you can lift the front of the base, closest to the front of the car, right off the seat. Its supposed to -in an accident the seat will fling up. So in most vehicles, children are most protected in the back seat, in a truck, not so much. But they're not well protected in the front seat either - too close to the front end, and then there's the airbag problem. Although, in an '07 the airbag will either have a sensor or be able to be shutoff. You have to watch those sensors, though, check the weight limit. B/c remember its not just the weight of your child in the seat, but the weight of your child + the weight of his seat. Anyways - I would not put my child in an infant carrier in the back seat of a pickup truck. I would get a rear facing convertible that can be tethered rear facing. You know how all current convertible seats have an extra strap coming out of the back that you hook in you car's back dash? There are 2 brands of seats that can use the strap but in rear facing position - only Britax and Sunshine Kids allow this. And a Sunshine Kids Radian65 is not going to fit rear facing in a truck, so a Britax convertible would be your best bet. That way it provides some more protection against the child hitting the rear windshield in an accident. I just wouldn't be comfortable with my child riding in it otherwise. If there is absolutely no other option - consider installing the infant car seat in the front seat, making absolutely certain that the airbag is shut off. There's evidence of why this is safer in the forums at http://www.car-seat.org , usually I'd search for it and put the link here, but apparently the forums are down right now. I posted an answer about putting a car seat in a Toyota Tacoma that had a link to a thread discussing putting a car seat in the front of a truck. Or you can post your question there when its up and running and get informative answers from car seat techs. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=ArgC7ZGmukfMbcNWBe0YZyHsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20080530142331AAcfgdV&show=7#profile-info-ZqN6pUsUaa That's the question, and when researching I learned that the Toyota Tacoma is a very difficult vehicle to install car seats in, rear or forward facing. consider trading vehicles with your husband on days he needs to pick up your child. We have the same problem in our house, my mom has a CRV to transport my son and sister, but my stepdad has a Nissan pickup. So he almost never gets to transport either child. Its just not safe enough.

Q: When does the new 2007 Toyota Tacoma truck come out?

A: Toyota's site says they comeoyt in January next year, but the other answers make me look like a liar. They're probably like "sneak peeks" and will be released everywhere in January.

Q: Toyota Tacoma Lift Kit. What size lift will void the warranty. 2007?
I have a 2007 Tacoma, plan on lifting it. I hear that anything over 3 inches will void the warranty, but I see these guys with brand new tacoma with 6-9 inch lifts driving around. I think to myself why would they do that and void the warranty. Does anyone know What size, type, brand of lift will and will not void the warranty??? I have 5year 60000 mile bumper to bumper. Any info and proof would be greatly appreciated.

A: When I bought mine roughly 2 weeks ago the salesman said that as long as they installed the lift the warranty will remain in place. I am going to pick up my plates today, i will talk to the service department and see what they say. I will let you know the results.

Q: My new 2007 4x2 toyota tacoma makes a high pitched humming noise when i go over 65 mph, windshield??
It is only two months old!!!

A: Anything is possible! If it is only two months old, the dealer will be more than glad to take a look at it and fix it. But, PLEASE! Do the poor technician a favor and ask to ride with the guy who is going to work on it, so he knows EXACTLY what noise he is looking for! It really helps!

Q: Approximately how much would a good lift kit cost for a 2007 4x4 toyota tacoma?
yeah i know, im kind of a noob when it comes to trucks, but my car that i have now is dying and i want to get a tacoma 4x4 and have it lifted.

A: depends.. spacers in front=cheap around 150 + labor( it's easy if you have some place to get the coils compressed,as they are dangerous if you do it yourself.) rear coils- old man emu= 200 at least. front coilovers= 600-1500 +labor if you arent planning to go serious off-roading, the spacers+rear coils will cost you around 300-400+labor. these are 1"- 3" lifts, the expensive coil overs are adjustable. check out http://www.ttora.com or http://www.ihatemud.com also check out http://www.toyteclifts.com friendly and very knowledgeable folks.

Q: What is the 0-60 time of a 2007 Toyota Tacoma X-Tra cab PreRunner 4x2? The 2007's horsepower is now 236.?

A: Toyota has one of the lightest most powerful trucks with the tacoma. All toyota trucks feel rececar nimble and fast when compared to ford and Chevy. Toyota does a good job getting the right gearing behind their motors too.

Q: I have a 2007 Toyota Tacoma Extra cab 4x4 with 245/75/16 tires and want to put on 265/75/16 tires ,?
The dealer told me that some of the senser lights might come on because of the larger tire size.I have had toyotas in the past and never heard of such.

A: I don't see any reason that any dummy lights would come on. Some people would say that the ABS will have a fit, but it really wont. All 4 tires are still spinning the same speed, the truck still monitors the revolutions of each tire compared to the drive speed given by the speed sensor on the t-case (for your speedometer). The tires will affect your final speed, but as far as the truck's concerned, you just going a couple miles an hour slower!!!

Q: what would be a better truck, a 2007 Toyota Tacoma, or a 2006 Nissan Frontier NISMO ?

A: Neither! Imports don't make a good truck. If you want a reliable truck, then go for an American truck like the Ford Explorer Sport Track or a Colorado!

Q: What are the 0-60mph times for a V6 2007 Toyota Tundra? and the 2007 V6 Toyota Tacoma?

A: I have an 07 Tacoma quad cab V-6, and I think it's about 6.5 seconds 0-60. I'll say this, it's definetly quick! I beat an 05 Hemi ram pickup 0-60. My truck makes 236 HP and 266 lb/ft of torque, impressive numbers for a V-6. It runs thru an automatic 5 speed into a 3.73 rear end, which makes for excellent acceleration! Added to Bryan: I appreciate the link. Very educational. Seems to me no one manufacturs perfect vehicles and customer service is VERY important. I hope my 07 Tacoma never sees any of those issues. I looked through other manufacturer's complaints and Ford, Dodge, and GM's are all catching FIRE! Seems as though you can never be totally sure you have a good vehicle. You also have to consider the number of complaints to the number of vehicles actually sold. I still love my truck! Added to Terry: Seems as though i hit a nerve! Did you get smoked by a Tacoma too? Seriously, every vehicle has a purpose and if I needed to haul 7000 pounds I wouldn't use a Tacoma. How many dodge owners drive a hemi that gets 10-12 MPG and haul groceries? Mine is practical for my uses

Q: I'm thinking about getting a new truck, any thoughts on the 2007 Toyota Tacoma 4x4?

A: I like the Silverado better...regardless of the hype...try a side by side comparison
