Q: 2002 chevy silverado 2 wheel drive upgrades ?
is there anything that you could do to a red single cab 2002 Chevy silverado ?
A: The upgrades are endless. You can go to your local Chevy dealer for engine upgrades. There are so many companies that provide lifts, engine mods, interior, exterior, cab, sound, lights, bed, and anything else you can think of. Grab a truck magazine and enjoy all the possible ways of styling, tricking, or pimping your ride.
Q: I want to buy a 2001 or 2002 chevy silverado regular cab truck.?
I looked everywhere online but the truck that i want is a black chevy silverado with regular cab, any idea where a good place is to find this car online?
A: ebay, autorv.com, autotrader.com, good luck. p.s. an f150 is NOT better.
Q: How do you remove the front brake pads on a 2002 Chevy Silverado?
The calipers are held on by 2 bolts right? And where is the bleeder screw?
The caliper is held on by some sort of star bolt. I tried T-55, 9mm , and 5/16...All fit very close but either too small or too big
A: The calipers are held together by two socket head bolts (13 mm). The bleeder (8 mm) is on the inboard caliper at about the 2 o'clock position on the drivers side, 10 o'clock on the passenger side.
Q: 2002 chevy silverado How to change the starter?
Cany anyone explain to me how to change the starter? I will be installing the new one to day and could use a little insight!
A: Disconnect the battery first. Crawl underneath and find where the positive battery cable is attached to the starter solenoid.
Take it off and remove the smaller wires attached to the solenoid next to the battery cable. Make a mental note of how they were attached.
Next, find and remove the two bolts that hold the starter to the engine block. If there are any flat, metal pieces, those are shims and you need to use them on the new starter most likely.
Now you have to take the starter out. Sometimes this is easy, more often than not, it is a pain in the butt due to exhaust and chassis parts. It will come out, just be patient and figure it out.
Now wiggle the new one in place, reinstall the bolts and any shims . Reattach the battery cable and the smaller wire(s).
Hook the battery back up and start the truck up!
Good Luck!
Note: Sometimes it next to impossible to disconnect the wires at the back of the starter while in place. If so, you can remove the bolts first and pull the starter down a bit so as to get to the wires. Make sure not to put the weight of the starter on the wires, support somehow or have a friend help hold it. Do the same when installing the new starter.
Q: Does a 2002 Chevy Silverado need to be timed or does the Electronics Control Module do that?
I am at 94k miles and am going to do my own tuneup. I have been told that newer trucks may not need to be timed. And would like to know if that is true or not.
A: The ECM ordinarily takes care of that, but do be aware that ECMs can fail - sometimes catastrophically. At 94k miles, it wouldn't be a bad idea to replace that module. They're expensive, but having your engine abruptly die in the middle of the freeway doing 80 at rush hour can cost wa*aa*aay more!
Q: I have a 2002 chevy silverado and in the message center says to change my oil can i reset it?
ive changed my oil 2 times since and it wont go off. so if any one can help it will be greatly appreciated.
A: yes,it is in the owners manual, move the ignition switch 2 on position, press and depress the gas pedal within 10 sec. turn 2 of position, and that should be it,but look it up 2 be sure!good luck!
Q: Can I hook RCA jacks up to a stock radio in a 2002 Chevy Silverado to hook up an amplifier?
I have a stock stereo without CD and the basic 4 speaker setup.
A: You need what's called a "Line level converter". You can find them on the web for around $12-$18. Find one rated for 18 watts RMS input. If you have a factory amp, you'll need a higher RMS rating for the converter. If it has a factory amp, find out the MAX watts of the amp and divide by 2, that'll be the RMS rating you need to find.
http://spkrbox1.spaces.msn.com/ for real "sound" advice.
Your system won't mean squat without a well designed box to put your subs in. Some manufacturers have recommendations as to dimensions of various types of boxes. It is best to find someone who builds boxes if you go with something other than a sealed box.
You should always match up RMS (Root Mean Square) watts of Subs and amp per channel as well as impedance's(resistances). When a sub has rating of 600 Watts MAX it really has an RMS rating of about 200 Watts RMS. RMS is the nominal wattage your most likely going to get out of it. Remember, a 200 Watts RMS amplifier has more power output than a 200 Watt MAX.
If your amp is rated at 4Ω don't subject it to 2Ω, it will fry.
Here is the formula for subs in parallel:
Z = 1 / (1/sub1 + 1/sub2 + 1/sub3 + ....)
For series, just add them up (sub1 + sub2 + ...).
You can mix and match these equations to get the right impedance required by your amp.
Example 1: Amp is 2 channel and rated at 4Ω, 4 subs @ 4Ω each. If I connect two in parallel and the other two in parallel and connect the two pairs in series, I would have a total impedance(resistance) of 4Ω. So to the amp, it's just one sub.
Example 2: Amp is rated at 1Ω mono, 2 subs @ 4Ω each dual voice coil. If I connect two voice coils in parallel and the other two voice coils in series and connect the two subs in parallel, I would have a total impedance of 1.6Ω. Which would be perfect for a 1Ω stable mono amp.
You should use a capacitor as well.
Recommend for every 500 watts MAX you use a .5 Farad cap
Example: 1000 watts MAX - 1 Farad cap
You will also need what's called a "line level converter" if your stock head unit doesn't have RCA outputs or your amp doesn't have high-level inputs.
Try http://www.soundomain.com/shop you can find some really good deals, and this site is manufacturer certified. VERY IMPORTANT WHEN SHOPPING ON-LINE!!!
If you like I can send you some plans for reference. My plans are for a 4-th order band-pass bass box (A.K.A. bass-reflex) that holds two 12's.
Also included are java calculators you can use to figure parallel and series values given Ω values, tips on box building and types, calculating port diameter and length(if used), calculating box dimensions for types of boxes (sealed, wedge, cylindrical, etc.), materials needed and even how to make a jig for cutting perfect holes for your subs.
Just e-mail me sparky3489@yahoo.com
My system
Blaupunkt TSw1200 subs with a Sony Xplōd XM2200GTX.
My amp is 1200 watts (200 Watts RMS X 2), subs are 600 watts (200 Watts RMS) each, cap is 1.5 Farad
SPL is about 112 db each sub
Total cost(so far) = $410
Q: How to fix dash light in a 2002 Chevy Silverado?
On my dash the air/ heat area of the lights is out, how can I fix this myself??
A: Take heater/AC trim off, undo panel, swap in new bulbs, replace panel and trim. Done.
Q: How do I change the headlight bulbs on my 2002 Chevy Silverado?
I just bought the truck and don't have any owner's manual. Thanks
A: there are pins holding them in, twist the pin out of its lock then slide up and out, while you have the lights out check your daytime running lights. probably one out. watch while your driving it seem every Chevy truck has 1 bad daytime running light
Q: I would like to bypass the passlock to the ECM on a 2002 Chevy Silverado? How would I do it?
I would like to bypass the passlock at the ECM (Engine Control Module) without having to go thru the BCM (Body Control Module). Any help would be greatfull. Thank you.
A: Two ways here is one. THis is a PassLock II system. There is a resistor inside the ignition switch that is sensed by the security system when the key is turned to the "Start" position. Each vehicle has a unique resistance value. You will need to measure this resistance with a digital meter and bypass Passlock when the remote start is active.
There are several bypass systems available which you can use to dial in the appropriate resistance. My local Pep Boys had an audiovox unit that had a series of DIP switches to select the resistance. BUT, make sure that you measure the resistance of the bypass unit with your meter. The switch chart provided with this unit was not accurate.
You will need to cut the yellow PassLock wire ... be sure of what you are doing ... there's no excess wire to patch things up. Also, the remote start components should not be easily accessible, since it does bypass Passlock. I removed the steering shaft trim, dash faceplate and gauge cluster so that I could run all of these "boxes" high into the dashboard near the defroster vent. I wrapped all wiring and routed in the steel channels that reinforce the dashboard. Also, given the amount of current flowing through these connections, I chose to solder all connections.
All told, it took me the better part of a day to do this job. But .. it's great on a hot day to get into a cool truck. I'm sure that it will be equally enjoyable this winter .. and it gets a double take by old and young alike when an unmanned truck just starts as they walk by. ;-)
Bypass modules are neccessary when installing a remote car starter on newer vehicles with transponder keys and GM's Passlock security system. We have vehicle specific bypass modules and universal bypass modules.
or get urself one of these very inexpensive and u can get htem at circity city best buy and or ur loca k car customization shop
Q: How do I change a thermostat in a 2002 chevy silverado 2500hd?
A: Little more info (engine size gas /diesel) Drain the anti-freeze out of the radiator. There is a plastic twist plug at the bottom left of the radiator that allows the fluid to drain out there. There might be a rubber hose that lets the fluid pass down through the lower fan shroud. When that has stopped draining, close the drain plug and move the bucket away from the work area. At the top of the radiator, follow the upper radiator hose back to where it makes contact with the intake manifold. There is a hose clamp on the water inlet neck, loosen the clamp and remove the radiator hose. The thermostat is under the water inlet neck. It has two bolts that hold it to the manifold. The bolts may have Loc-tight applied to them from the factory so you might need a little heat to loosen them. (electric paint stripper) The gasket may or may not come off in one piece, if it doesn't ,scrape it off but don't let anything fall into the opening. Almost done, clean off and make sure the surface where the inlet neck sits is dry.Place the new thermostat (spring pointing down) in the opening, apply a small amount of gasket sealer to both sides of the new gasket. Place the gasket over the opening matching the hole for the bolts. Place the water inlet neck over the thermostat but make sure you have both bolts in the holes of the neck while you place it over the gasket, this will help keep the gasket in line with the neck as you lower it on to the manifold. Tighten down the bolts evenly till their snug and the torque them down to 30 or 40 foot pounds (1/2 to 3/4 of a turn) . Re-fit the radiator hose over the water inlet, secure the clamp and return the anti-free to the radiator. You might not be able to add it in through the radiator cap so it as to be poured in by way of the boil over resivior. Add as much as you can the the resivior then start your engine. Add the anti-freeze as needed till the "COLD" mark has been reached. Run your engine till normal operating tempature has been reached and then check for leaks. Allow the engine to cool off again and add more anti-freeze till the "COLD" mark is reached. Its been a while since I've done that to a GM product but I bet it hasn't change much since my 90 Astro van.
Good Luck...
Q: How do you adjust the headlights on a 2002 chevy silverado pick-up?
A: u either move headlight bulb on the inside or u adjust by pulling the two pins out and adjusting the housing and reinstalling the pins
Q: where can i find a cadillac front end clip for a 2002 chevy silverado?
anyone? hook me up.

Q: 2002 chevy silverado will not start was missing at first 6 cyl?
Started missing a few days ago then it went to start it and it would turn over but the low engine oil pressure message would come up while i was trying to start it. I hear the fuel pump run have replaced the low engine oil sensor, have checked plugs and wires
A: If you tried to get it started by squirting some carb cleaner into the throttle body and it didn't start you could have a lot of problems.
Get it to a shop and have it scanned. It could be anything. If it was skipping, that could be an indication of a bad injector, plug, valve etc. For the complete injector unit to go bad is rare.
You're not giving a lot of information to go on.
